Chattahoochee East Palisades
The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a fun place around metro Atlanta despite the pollution in the river. I wouldn’t recommend rafting in the river now (I did it countless times in the distant past), but there are some nice short hikes there.
Here is the track log of the East Palisades loop trail in GPX format. You can also get park maps in PDF format.
Below you can see the trail we followed as well as some photographs. Since we hiked there in early November, you can see some nice fall colors.

How did you highlighted your track on Goggle map? I mean is there any tools for it associated with Google?

Kianoush: It is part of the Google Maps API, but I used RoboGEO to generate it automatically from my GPS data as described previously.

Nice post. I have hiked and run many of those trails over the last five years. One very cool place near the northern edge of the NPS property at Chattahoochee Palisades East is the bamboo forrest. It’s down at river level on the East side of the river. From the overlook platform (the most northern of the pictures that you took), you’ll want to take the trail down to river level. Once you reach the river shore, take the trail to the right and go about a 1/4 mile. You’ll see a fully mature stand of bamboo trees. It’s facinating to see. The trees are maybe 40 to 50 feet high. It’s worth the view.
Also, the Chattahoochee is stunning at this section, too. I’ve waded between the rocks on both sides at the Palisades, and (at least when the water is clear) it is a most beautiful place. I’ve got some stunning pictures from both sides.
