It’s Eid today in some areas while others will celebrate it tomorrow. There might even be Eid on Sunday somewhere while Nigeria celebrated Eid yesterday. In all this confusion, I have forgotten when we are celebrating it. Anyway, it’s this weekend. So, a Happy Eid to everyone!
For the occasion, Amber has sewn a gharara for Michelle and done some henna designs on her hands. Michelle also bought some bangles, in purple of course since that’s her favorite color.
On Sunday, we are having some friends over for an Eid dinner.
UPDATE: Some links related to the Islamic calendar and moonsighting: US Naval Observatory’s page on the topic, Moonsighting curves on world map and another moonsighting calculation site. Also, see Robert Van Gent’s page on lunar visibility.

Ohh I am going crazy over this Eid business. It’s not supposed to be Eid so why is the Atlanta area doing it today? Neither calculations nor moonsighting! But we’re going with the flow – the question is, where is there an Eid venue in Atl?

Happy Eid!
Zack, is this an appropriate Eid wish?

Raza: Thanks.
Koonj: Most Atlanta mosques follow Saudi and we all know that Saudis like to smoke weed before looking for the moon. As for Eid venues, that’s another rant. I expected some announcement on the local mosque’s voicemail about it yesterday during the day (especially after the Saudi announcement) but there was nothing until after sunset.
Captain_Arrrgh: Thanks. Yes, that’s appropriate.

Salaam and Eid Mubarik! We’re celebrating tomorrow too.
Purple (and all shades of it) is my favorite color too. LOL. Yes, do post pictures of her. I’m sure she’ll be a cutie.
