  1. Dang, now that’s what i call variety…

A friend of mine is from Mauritius, off the coast of Africa. Technically, she’d be considered of Chinese origin, but her family has lived on Mauritius for several generations, so they speak fluent French and a dialect very similar to Creole instead. Really interesting.

  2. I remember that being the biggest impression I took from looking at my stats the first year my site was up. It truly is a World Wide Web.

I’ll never forget in 1997 the first time I saw a visitor come to my site from Russia. To me it was (and still is) mindboggling that someone was sitting in their home somewhere deep in Russia, using who-knows-what kind of computer and opertaing system, accessing picutres and words I’d put online in Atlanta. The perennial barriers of human languages, computer languages, political ideologies, and simple distance were wiped away before my eyes.

Today, we take it for granted.

There’s another side of that same coin, and we take it for granted as well. Though you and I likely pass within a mile of each other on a semi-regular basis (much of the photo community is located near the Tech campus), I wouldn’t have a clue who Zack is if it wasn’t for the World Wide Web.

  3. PhotoDude: True.

BTW you know what I look like, so if you see me on the street, feel free to meet me.

I think 3 comments is correct. I searched my database to see if you had used a different email address, but came up with nothing.

  4. Let’s add 11 more countries by the end of August: Egypt, Fiji, Kenya, Lithuania, Madagascar, Micronesia, Nicaragua, Seychelles, Slovakia, South Korea, Venezuela.

    That’s 62+1+3+11 = 77.

  5. Add 6 more countries in October for a total of 91: American Samoa, Belize, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ecuador, Malta, Slovenia.

  6. 7 more in November for a total of 98: Afghanistan, Bermuda, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Gibraltar, Morocco, Rwanda, Ukraine.
