Gobble Jog 5K 2013

Running the same race twice in successive years means it’s a tradition now. On Thanksgiving Day 2013, Michelle and I ran the Gobble Jog 5K together in Marietta. It was cold, but it was fun running with my 9 year old. We finished the race in 42:35.79.

Lanier Under the Lights 5K

Every year for Christmas, Lake Lanier Islands have really nice Christmas lights. We have been there quite a few times and I have posted photos before. They have a race at the start of the season where you run a 5K through the lights instead of driving. We ran the Lanier Under the Lights 5K… Continue reading Lanier Under the Lights 5K

Body Fat 14%

My body fat percentage is now down to 14%. It’s the lowest I have ever measured. About 9 years ago, almost 25% of my weight was fat. That got me worried and I had exercised my way to 20.5% fat by New Year 2005, losing 11 lbs (5 kg) in the process. In another year… Continue reading Body Fat 14%

Run the River 10K/5K

On April 20, the weather was cool (39F/4C) and we all headed out to take part in the Run the River race nest to the Chattahoochee river in Roswell, GA. Michelle and Amber ran in the 5K which started at 7:30. Michelle finished the race in 39:29 which was a new record for her, beating… Continue reading Run the River 10K/5K

Silver Comet 10K

This Saturday, I ran the Silver Comet 10K which bills itself as once of the fastest 10K races in the area since not only is it flat, but part of the course is slightly downhill. That made it the perfect first 10K for me. Here’s the map and data for my run: I finished the… Continue reading Silver Comet 10K

1,000 Miles Progress

One of my new year resolutions this year was to do 1,000 miles in 2013. Running a thousand miles in a year requires 2.74 miles/day or 19.19 miles/week. That is beyond my ability. But I do some cycling on the weekends. So I decided to count my cycling miles at one-third. Let’s see how I… Continue reading 1,000 Miles Progress

Hot Chocolate 5K

When chocolate’s on offer, of course, I’ll run. And that’s how I registered for the Hot Chocolate 5K. On the morning of January 13, the “Hot” referred to the weather since it was 60F early in the morning. It was slow going to get to the race area due to traffic. About 18,000 people were… Continue reading Hot Chocolate 5K

Jingle Jog

Last weekend, I ran the Jingle Jog 5K. This was an exciting event because Amber, Michelle and I were all participating. I ran this 5km race at Michelle’s pace, who did very well. Here’s a map of the route, along with elevation, my heart rate and speed graphs. According to the official results, my chip… Continue reading Jingle Jog

Gobble Jog 5K

After years of running for a while and then quitting because running is hard, this summer I decided to try again. In June, I started using the 9-week couch-to-5K program with the Get Running iPhone app. Since it was summer in HOTlanta, I did all my running/walking on a treadmill at the gym. But I… Continue reading Gobble Jog 5K
