World War II and Me

I forgot that yesterday was August 6: the day that the A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Ampersand links to a couple of articles which seem to show that dropping nuclear bombs on Japan was not necessary to end the war. I don’t have an opinion on the matter since I don’t know enough to form an informed, reasonable opinion.

August 6 is however also important to me because it is the birthday for my Dad. He turned 66 yesterday. He was born August 6, 1937 in Jammu (part of the disputed state of Kashmir).

Another link to World War II is of course my own birthday. Again it’s about the Japanese and the United States. I was born exactly 29 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
