The Bush administration responds to Amnesty International’s cataloging of abuses in Gitmo and beyond by tarnishing Amnesty’s name. The Musharraf regime saves Pakistan’s reputation by not allowing Mukhtaran Bibi, a gang rape victim, to go abroad.

اکتوبر میں جب پاکستانی پاسپورٹ بین الاقوامی معیار پر تبدیل کیا گیا تو اس میں سے مذہب کا خانہ نکال دیا گیا۔ اس پر پاکستان کی مذہبی جماعتوں کو تکلیف ہوئی۔ انہوں نے اس قدم کے خلاف انتہائی نامعقول دلائل دیئے اور احتجاج کیا۔ اب کچھ دن پہلے حکومت نے سر جھکا دیا اور مذہب کا خانہ پاسپورٹ میں واپس ڈال دیا۔

Anglo-Sikh War Journal
Sepoy of Chapati Mystery has started posting the journal of an anonymous subaltern from the second Anglo-Sikh war in the Punjab in 1848-49. It should be interesting reading. Some historical background is available here. Sepoy promises another journal from the 1857 war of independence/mutiny later. Fascinating!
